Spoken Word/Poetry Workshop

Who is this for?  Public schools, private schools, homeschooling pods, summer program option

As an educator, an ADHD/EFS Coach, and a Life Coach, I am offering a 5-week workshop to public and private schools focusing on spoken word poetry. (Each weekly session will be 40 minutes to an hour depending on the school periods and availability of time/space.)

Implementation Plan:

Week 1 – Deep dive into spoken word poetry: We will watch (online) and discuss some powerful speakers. Discussion will include what makes a powerful speaker, interpretations (of speeches and poems), AND how spoken word poetry is different than traditional poetry.

Week 2 – Brainstorming topics, creating webs, meditation as a tool to explore ideas, and a presentation on mind chatter (and the power of the words we say to ourselves in the privacy of our own minds.)

Week 3 – Choosing topics, beginning the process of writing, poetic devices that can be used…

Week 4 – Public speaking session – What makes someone an effective speaker? Games and activities connected to public speaking; continuing to revise poems

Week 5 – Practice spoken word presentation

Present poems – This could be done at a local coffee shop, bookstore, the school, etc.

This workshop is a bit of a passion project for me as I feel so strongly about the positive impact spoken word poetry can have on our young people. It can be a transformative and empowering experience that nurtures personal growth and development.

If your school is interested in this program, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would be happy to discuss availability, ideal workshop/class size, and cost.

Writer’s Workshop

Who is this for?  Public schools, private schools, homeschooling pods, summer program option

As a certified English Language Arts educator, an ADHD/EFS Coach, and a Life Coach, I am offering a 5-week workshop to public and private schools focusing on the writing process. (Each weekly session will be 40 minutes to an hour depending on the school periods and availability of time/space.)

Implementation Plan:

This will vary a bit depending on the grade level I am working with, but essentially it is a workshop to BUILD STUDENTS UP by inspiring them to find their own voice and realize that they ALL have something of value to share in their writing!

  • How to organize your thoughts/ideas
  • How to break through that anxiety that comes with staring at a blank page
  • What to do when you just don’t know what to do (as it relates to writing)
  • How to create “flow” in your writing
  • The power of word choice
  • And more…

If your school is interested in this program, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would be happy to discuss availability, ideal workshop/class size, and cost.
